FOR THE CANDIDATE:
- Make direct eye contact and smile!
- Ask detailed questions about the position such
as why the last person who had the job left and specific duties associated
with the position.
- Don't talk about personal matters.
- Be positive! Do not discuss past
supervisors/bosses in a negative way.
- Do not immediately ask about salary.
Concentrate on the job description and responsibilities.
- Stick to the subject. Don't "ramble" on and on
about insignificant topics that are not related to the job.
FOR THE EMPLOYER:
The following are some helpful questions to guide you
during the interview:
- Why did you leave your last position?
- What was your favorite job?
- What was your most significant accomplishment
in any of your jobs?
- What is your "ideal" or "dream" job?
- What is your 1-year goal? 5-year goal?
- What are your strengths? Weaknesses?
- What kind of working environment do you enjoy?
These are just a few of the
questions that help you learn more about the candidate. Most importantly,
remember that you are trying to get to know the person, so don't be afraid to
